Nyon is a town with a rich historical background. The basilica was built in the first century and renovated in 2009. Today, it includes a Roman museum where you can see Roman remains of the town.
The beautiful castle, renovated since 2000, includes the Historical museum, with temporary and permanent exhibitions.
The Nyon area, called “la Côte”, lies on the banks of the Lake of Geneva, and has many castles : Rolle, Coppet, and a picturesque fishermen neighbourhood five minutes from Nyon city centre by walk.
The hinterland is made of hillsides covered with vineyards and climbing till the Jura mountain pastures near Saint-Cergue.
Every month, a flea market is organized in Nyon. Every year, the very famous PALEO festival takes place in July.
